A mid-October week at Rafa Nadal's own academy, after the summer crowds and at the year's lowest room rates and fares. You and Raymond each join a group of four at your own level every morning, sleep 250 m from the courts, and get the spa circuit, pools and gym with the room. How well each month fits this trip, out of 5: tennis weather, rain and storms, cost, sea, crowds, restaurants and flights. Solid = best, outlined = runner-up.
75°F highs · 62°F nights · sea 72°F · ~9 rainy days in October
- Cheapest month for both academy rooms (about $213 a night on average) and flights from Dallas.
- Comfortable tennis: highs of 72–75°F during the 10:30–12:30 session, and the sea is still warm enough to swim.
- Quieter: after Spain's Oct 12 holiday, before UK half-term and the end-of-season closures. All three planned restaurants are open.
- The catch is rain: it's Palma's wettest month and storm season. In 2025 a storm hit on these exact dates. The 11 indoor and covered courts keep tennis going.
- Runner-up, May 9–15: the best tennis weather and almost no storms, but a cold sea and $618 more for the two of you.
Getting there
- American/Iberia via Madrid, one ticket. Overnight flight Saturday Oct 16, land in Palma Sunday ~12:00–4:00 PM.
- Home Saturday Oct 23 with a ~5:00 AM car, back in Dallas the same evening.
- About $1,000 each, the cheapest month to fly. The return goes on sale ~Nov 26, 2026; aim to buy Jan–May 2027.
- Private car from Palma airport, ~45 min, about $110 each way for the two of you.
Where you'd stay
- Rafa Nadal Residence, 4-star, on the campus, rated 9.3/10. About $284 a night for two in October; breakfast ~$14 each.
- A 250 m walk to the courts. With a camp booking: spa circuit, sauna, Turkish bath, indoor and outdoor pools, and a gym with 200+ classes a week.
- Cheaper: THB Felip in Porto Cristo saves ~$250–400 each but needs a car every day and may be closing for the season. Upgrade: Cap Vermell Grand Hotel, 5-star, ~+$1,100 each.
Tennis
- Daily Tennis Camp: 45 min of fitness, then 2 hours on court in a group of four, Mon, Tue, Wed and Fri.
- 8 hours on court + 3 hours fitness each, about $510 each.
- Mid-October is the academy's autumn adult camp period, so there should be more adults to make up separate 3.0 and 4.0 groups.
- To confirmGrouping by level is stated for the weekly camp, not the daily one, and no adult prices are published.
- You and Raymond don't play together unless you add a private hour (~$30–60 each).
Spa, pools & recovery
- 45 tennis courts, 4 indoor and 7 semi-covered. Padel too.
- Indoor 25 m pool, outdoor pool, spa circuit and a sports clinic on site. Beaches 15 minutes away, sea about 72°F.

Food
- Marc Fosh, Michelin-starred, Thursday lunch in Palma, ~$128 each plus wine.
- Tomeu Caldentey, Wednesday tasting menu in Sa Coma, ~$100 each with wine.
